2008-2009 scholarship application 2008-2009.pdf
Incorporated in 1962, the Minnesota Professional
Engineers Foundation (MPEF) acts on behalf of MSPE to
administer funds received from donations and other
sources to promote charitable, scientific and
educational programs. All members of MSPE are
automatically members of the foundation. Contributions
to the foundation are used to support the mission of the
foundation and its programs. These programs may include
scholarships for qualified students, programs to
encourage engineering as a profession and continuing
education opportunities. Gifts to the Minnesota
Professional Engineers Foundation are voluntary and tax
deductible.
Contributing to MPEF:
Contributions to MPEF can be of many types and can be
made in several ways. Acceptable contributions are those
of cash, gifts of personal property, securities and real
estate, life insurance, trust fund and inclusion of the
foundation in a will. In addition, friends and
organizations may also make donations. If you would like
to contribute to the foundation, you may send your check
or contribution to: Minnesota Professional Engineers
Foundation (MPEF), 20 E. Thompson Ave. #206, West St.
Paul, MN 55118.
Mission:
The Minnesota Professional Engineers Foundation is a
nonprofit corporation of the Minnesota Society of
Professional Engineers. The foundation provides funding
for educational activities, including those that
encourage and support those aspiring to be Professional
Engineers.
Vision:
The foundation is the major resource supporting students
pursuing professional engineering as a viable and
rewarding career. Parents and educators understand and
value the many contributions of engineers in improving
our lives and support engineering as a career. MSPE
members understand that they are foundation members and
view MPEF as an integral component of a professional
association.
Goals
Visibility:
Increase the visibility of the foundation, awareness of
its activities and link MSPE and MPEF membership.
Capacity:
Ensure that the foundation has strong, vital leadership,
from the board, staff and volunteers to create a vibrant
and effective organization.
Fund
Development:
Increase the foundation’s assets through gifts,
investments and fundraising activities.
Fund Distribution:
Broaden the use of foundation assets to educate
elementary, junior high and high school students about
engineering careers and provide more scholarships and
internships for undergraduate and post-graduate
engineering students.

MPEF Strategic Plan 05-08.pdf
Each winter, the Minnesota
Professional Engineers Foundation conducts an annual
scholarship competition. Scholarships can be given to
any full-time student who has completed the sophomore
curriculum requirements in an ABET-accredited college
engineering program in the state of Minnesota.
Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic
achievement, educational and community activities and a
recommendation by a professor. Scholarship applications
are available beginning in October of each year and are
due at the MSPE office in early December.
In 2008, $32,000 in
scholarships was presented to 23 engineering students at
the 44th Annual Engineers Week Awards and
Recognition Banquet, which was held on February 22, 2008
at the University Club in downtown St. Paul. The 2008
