MSPE
Spring Thing
Provides Opportunities, Recognizes Accomplishments
Over 70 MSPE members
gathered on Friday, June 5 for the MSPE Spring Thing:
Your Bridge over Troubled Water. Featuring continuing
education, networking opportunities and an annual
business meeting, members had an opportunity to learn
from a variety of educational presenters and meet new
people. At the end of the day, spouses, families and
friends joined us as we gathered at Midway Stadium for a
chilly but fun tailgating dinner and St. Paul Saints
baseball game.

After a fantastic Italian lunch, outgoing MSPE President
Jason McCarty presented awards to several MSPE members
worthy of recognition. Congratulations to this year’s
award winners:

Engineer of the Year:
Dave Morrill, PE (McGhie & Betts)

Young Engineer of the Year:

Extra Mile Award: Jeff

Time to
Hit the Links at MSPE Chapter Golf Tourneys!
Several MSPE chapters will
be holding golf tournaments in the coming months to
raise money for MATHCOUNTS, scholarships and other local
outreach programs. MSPE members are encouraged to
participate! Even if you don’t golf, you are invited to
come and give it your best shot, have some fun in the
sun and enjoy the company of your peers. More
information can be found through the links below or by
contacting the
MSPE office.
Capitol and City of Lakes:
The Twin Cities chapters have combined to bring you the
First Annual MATHCOUNTS Golf Fundraiser! Come on
Thursday, July 30 at Como Golf Course in St. Paul for an
afternoon of golf and fun with your peers – while
raising money for chapter MATHCOUNTS competitions! This
event, which is limited to the first 40 people to
register, is a four-person scramble, so it’s not
necessary to be a good golfer in order to play. The cost
is $50 per person, which includes greens fees, cart and
a $10 donation to MATHCOUNTS. Join us after golf for
Happy Hour at O’Gara’s Garage in St. Paul. Contact
Kim Hayden
or
Sheila Krohse

Lake Agassiz: A MATHCOUNTS golf
fundraiser will be held on Friday, July 10 at the

enable the MSPE Lake Agassiz Chapter to continue to
offer a MATHCOUNTS program in their area – please help
us spread the word and invite others who may want to
play!
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS WED. JULY 1.
Cost is $40 + tax per golfer, to be paid directly to the
course. Donations to MATHCOUNTS can be made separately.
Hole sponsors are also welcome. After golf, all are
invited to MSPE member Graig Gilbertson’s home nearby
for a BBQ. Contact the
MSPE office
with questions.
