Coaches Corner

Teachers play a very important role in MATHCOUNTS and the program works closely with the teacher-coaches who participate.

Jim Foley, a teacher at Anoka Ramsey Community College sits on the MATHCOUNTS State Task force as liaison from the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). Also on the Task Force is former coach John Benda, who is currently working for the St. Paul School District as K-8 Math Content Coach.

Coaches Awards

Each year at the State Competition, MATHCOUNTS honors teachers who have brought teams to the state meet for five and 10 years.

Doug Johnson, coach of the Bemidji Middle School math team, received a Super Coach award at the 2008 State Competition.
