How to Participate

School Kits are mailed to middle and junior high schools in September. If you don't receive one, contact your chapter coordinator. The kits include the MATHCOUNTS School Handbook (complete with 300 problems and extended activities), posters for your classroom, a competition registration form and additional materials to help you kick off your school coaching program.

Chapter Coordinators

There are 12 MATHCOUNTS chapters in the state of Minnesota. Each chapter has a coordinator who can provide information about the program. You can find out your coordinator on our Contact Us page.

Your chapter coordinator will inform you of dates and locations of the chapter and state competitions. You can also check our Calendar for that information. If you have registered and you do not hear from your chapter coordinator by mid-January, contact your coordinator to confirm that your registration has been properly routed.

What is the Cost?

The School Kit is free. It includes the MATHCOUNTS School Handbook, poster, competition registration form, and coaching and novelties catalogue.

The competition registration fees are $80 per team (up to four students) and $20 per individual. Reduced fees of $40 per team and $10 per individual are available to Title I schools.

How to Register a School

To register for the MATHCOUNTS program, complete the registration form included in the School Kit and send along with a check, money order or purchase order to MATHCOUNTS Registration, P.O. Box 441, Annapolis Junction, MD 20701.

Registration

One copy of the school competition (including instructions and an answer key), team ribbons, alternate ribbons, and participation certificates for students will be mailed to registered schools.

The sooner you register, the sooner you will receive your school competition material. The first mailing of school competition kits will take place in October. Additional mailings will take place on a rolling basis through early January.

Once processed, confirmation of your registration will be available through the registration area on the national MATHCOUNTS Website.

Your local coordinator will be notified of your registration and you will be informed of the date and location of your local competition. You can also check our Calendar for your Chapter's competition date.
