Environmental Concerns That May

Affect Renovation or Development

This technical presentation for engineers will focus on asbestos, lead and indoor air quality as they relate to renovation and redevelopment. What are these contaminates and where are they encountered in renovation and redevelopment projects? We will answer these questions and more.

  • Asbestos was not banned in the 1980s; what does that mean?
  • Where might asbestos be encountered in renovation or redevelopment projects?
  • What are the concerns surrounding lead contamination?
  • What are the specific items of focus in an indoor air quality investigation?

Bruce Boehm Carlson is a Senior Environmental Project Manager at American Engineering Testing. He has over 18 years of experience addressing asbestos, lead, indoor air quality and industrial hygiene issues for clients ranging from homeowners to multi-national companies. He has conducted thousands of asbestos inspections and hundreds of lead and indoor air quality investigations. He has the unique experience of first conducting asbestos and indoor air quality inspections, transitioning into the laboratory and conducting sample analysis, then moving into environmental project management.
