Vacuum Technology at Normandale Community College:

Enabling High Tech Manufacturing

TECHNICAL WEBINAR VIDEO CONFERENCE - 1.0 PDH

Program:

During this live webinar video conference, we will be exploring how vacuum technology is used by many manufacturers, both in the Twin Cities area and worldwide.  Many processes and systems used by industry are modeled by equipment in the Normandale Community College (NCC) vacuum lab, which is used by students during the course of their instruction. The program will include a live video demonstration (attendees are remote, watching the live webinar) and technical explanation of the various technologies.

We will also discuss the NCC program for training technicians to work in the vacuum technology field, and how the opportunity to lead these classes can be an opportunity for professional development for experienced engineers.

Presenters:

John R. Lasswell, PE is an adjunct professor at Normandale. John is a mechanical engineer and active member of MnSPE.  He teaches the fundamentals class at Normandale.

Nancy Louwagie
is the department chair at Normandale. Besides leading the Vacuum and Engineering Technology programs at Normandale, Nancy is an electrical engineer with a strong interest in quality as it relates to electronic device manufacture.  She has lead several National Science Foundation funded studies exploring methods for deploying technical instruction to students worldwide.
