As businesses continue to rely on technology to create or enhance their efficiency or gain competitive advantage, new business risks and increased cyber risks emerge. This seminar will focus on these trends and how they affect the engineering profession in serving our customers, employers, and practices. 

 

Join us on April 25th as we explore the impact of digital risk on IT systems as reliance on technology continues to develop in four key areas:

  • IT system design and data reliance
  • IT system utilization
  • IT system disruption or interruption
  • Our moral and legal responsibilities

  4. Jim Wolford: CEO of Atomic Data (IT infrastructure and Strategy services & consulting, listed as one of the fastest growing companies)

Chloe Rappor – Cyber and Technology Underwriter at CFC Underwriting, LTD (London, England)

Mike Benz – Vice President, Information Technology at Kraus-Anderson

Kraus-Anderson (KA) is an integrated construction and real estate enterprise working independently and in collaboration with a family of companies including insurance and finance. Based in Minneapolis, Kraus-Anderson has emerged as a top-tier U.S. general contractor focusing on commercial construction projects and related services in the upper Midwest. For the past 11 years, Mike has guided KA through various technology strategies and has implemented enterprise-wide systems that support the diverse Industries and geographic territories served by KA. As a panelist who recently completed a Master in Cyber Security with the University of Minnesota, Mike brings a common sense viewpoint to the pressures associated with an enterprise IT system and prudent cyber security protocols.

Christopher Yetka - Partner in Policyholder Counseling and Insurance Recovery Group at Barnes & Thornburg (Minneapolis)

Barnes & Thornburg is a leading nationwide law firm with attorneys enforcing the coverage rights of policyholders when complicated claims arise. Chris specializes in counseling and litigating numerous coverage claims including professional liability, cyber risk, crime and property insurance issues. He is the former chair of the American Bar Association Insurance Litigation Committee, and has been invited to be a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel. With over 25 years of experience, Chris brings to our panelist group a unique perspective of the impact and complexity that a cyber risk event has on a company and the relevance of insurance recovery. 

 

Jim Wolford – Chief Executive Officer of Atomic Data (Minneapolis)

Atomic Data is a leading nationwide, on-demand, always-on, IT-as-a-Service provider. It has been identified as one of the fastest growing Minnesota-based businesses. As CEO, Jim has applied his IT and risk management experience to assist business owners in taking control of their technology strategies. He is also the owner of Foundation Technologies, which specializes in meeting the IT needs of the Twin Cities’ creative community. With over 25 years of experience, Jim brings a unique perspective to our panel on the impact and complexity of IT strategies and architecture on a company’s business model and future growth.

Brian Kampf – Vice President, Architect and Engineers Practice at Kraus-Anderson Insurance

With over 37 years of experience, Brian has accumulated expertise in policy language, carrier relationships and negotiations and complicated claim issues. As a panel moderator, Brian will assist panelists in focusing specifically on the unique digital risk issues and questions that impact architect and engineers' practices.  

Keith Burkhardt – Vice President, Agency Growth Strategies and Mergers & Acquisitions at Kraus-Anderson Insurance

In 2013, Kraus-Anderson Insurance commenced development of a cyber risk insurance practice focused on the impact that technology strategies has on businesses. The practice currently serves over 200 customers in the Upper Midwest. With over 20 years of experience acting as the principal for insurance broker firms, Keith has unique insight on the risk issues that managers and owners of enterprise face as their business models evolve. As a presenter/moderator, Keith has presented this subject matter to the Health Facility Engineers Association, the Association of General Contractors, the Iowa Actuarial Association and the Minnesota Society of Information Management (SIM), and has published numerous articles in CIO Magazine and CIO Review.
