Q: What is the cost of membership?

Annual dues are $299. Your membership includes MnSPE and our national affiliate, the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).

 

Reduced rates are available for recent college graduates. One year post-graduation = 20% of $299 ($59.80); two years post-graduation = 40% of $299 ($119.60), etc. through four years post-graduation.

 

Student membership is always free.
 

Retired Engineers - Half price dues for members who have been members at least 10 years, are at least 60 years of age and are working less than 20 hours/week.

 

 

Q: Who can join MnSPE?

You are invited to join MnSPE if you meet one of the following:

  • You are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • You are a certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI)
  • You are not yet licensed but have received an engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution (or international equivalent) within the last two years
  • You are a college student pursuing a degree in engineering

 

 

Q: I don't qualify for membership, but still want to be involved. Is there an option for me?

Absolutely! Explore our subscription options for access to select MnSPE benefits, including half-price continuing education (seminars and webinars).

  • Basic Subscriptions are open to those with five years or less of engineering work experience.
  • Plus Subscriptions are open to those with more than five years of engineering work experience.

Q: Can I deduct my MnSPE dues (members) or my MnSPE subscription (subscribers)?

Members: MnSPE membership dues may be tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. For the June 2018 - July 2019 fiscal year, 13% of MnSPE dues is not deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense to the extent that MnSPE allocates membership dues to lobbying activities.

 

Subscribers: MnSPE subscription payments may be 100% tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense.
